PRIVACY POLICY
Last Updated September 27, 2005
This privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") covers our treatment of personally identifiable information Generational Art Productions Inc (“Discover,” “Gen Art Discover,” “Gen Art,” "we," "our" or "us") collect online when you access the Generational Art Productions Inc. World Wide Web Site located at http://discover.genart.org and the content and services provided therein (collectively, the "Site"). This Privacy Policy applies and is limited to the treatment of information that is collected via the Site.
INTRODUCTION AND POLICY UPDATES
GENERATIONAL ART PRODUCTIONS INC takes the privacy of your personally identifiable information seriously and will strive to use your personally identifiable information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Please review this Privacy Policy carefully.
COLLECTION
You can view the Site without creating an account on the Site. However, in order to post your original writing, art, music, video, and other creative work ("Work") and to review and provide critiques of the Work of others ("Critiques"), you must create an account on the Site. Work and Critiques shall hereinafter be referred to as "Materials."
To create an account, you will be asked to provide personally identifiable information to us, such as your full name, e-mail address, city of residence, and birth date. You may also be asked to provide a credit card if you intend to purchase goods or services via our Site. You will also select a username and a password for your account. The information that you submit to GENERATIONAL ART PRODUCTIONS INC in connection with creating an account shall hereinafter be referred to as "Account Information."
You will also be asked to provide information to us when you submit a Critique, such as your educational background and profession.
You may reveal additional information about yourself through your usage of the Site. For instance, a movie studio or magazine may post an "assignment" on the Site and request that only writers that meet certain qualifications (e.g., under the age of 35) or have certain characteristics (e.g., Hispanic female) submit Work in response to the assignment, and your submission of Work in response to such an assignment would suggest that you meet such qualifications or have such characteristics. You may also choose to "customize" your Site experience and view only Materials that fall within certain political, philosophical, or religious categories. Such customization may infer certain information about yourself.
Please remember that Materials you submit to the Site will be viewed by other users. Keep in mind that any information you voluntarily reveal in the content of your Materials or in other postings on the Site such as forums and chat rooms can be collected and used by people you don't know. We cannot guarantee the security of any information you disclose online and you make such disclosures at your own risk. You are responsible for safeguarding your username identity and password.
Gen Art’s web servers automatically collect Site usage information from you when you visit the Site. Site usage information informs us about how our visitors use and navigate the Site, including, among other things, the number and frequency of visitors on each web page, their Internet Protocol addresses, the length of their stays and the actions they take (including orders).
COOKIES
Certain pages of the Site may use persistent and/or sessional cookies (i.e. small data files that our web servers may send to your computer when you visit the Site) to track your usage of the Site. Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether to accept it. You have the option to reject the Site's cookies and still use the Site, but you may not be able to access or use some of the features on the Site.
HOW WE USE AND SHARE THE INFORMATION COLLECTED
As a policy, we will not sell or rent your personally identifiable information to a third party mailing list or similar third party marketing service without your consent.

To the extent permitted by law and regulations, we may share your personally identifiable information with third parties for the purposes described above.
Also, from time to time, producers, editors, and other distributors of creative works contact Gen Art and wish to communicate with a particular creator of Materials posted on the Site. In addition, we may share with others (including without limitation our advertisers, marketers, and vendors) aggregated and/or anonymous information that we have collected based on usage of the Site or statistical information that we have compiled about our users.
We may also disclose your personally identifiable information in connection with any merger or consolidation with, or sale of substantially all of our assets relating to the Site to, an affiliated entity or a third party, provided that such party agrees to comply with our Privacy Policy or you are given a choice if such party would like to use such information in a manner materially different from that disclosed in our Privacy Policy.
YOUR ABILITY TO CHOOSE
You can request to cancel your account and have your Account Information removed from our database by contacting us at privacy@genart.org. If you do so, Gen Art will delete your Account Information from our active database following the receipt of your cancellation request, unless Gen Art determines in its sole discretion that it needs to retain that information for a longer period of time to resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, enforce this Privacy Policy or Gen Art’s Terms of Use, or for other valid business reasons. Except as otherwise provided in the "Your Ability to Choose" section, we generally retain your personally identifiable information and user data, including Materials, on our server or in our archives for as long as we reasonably need it. We may alter this practice according to changing legal and/or business requirements. For example, we may shorten the retention period for certain data if needed to free up storage space. We may lengthen the retention period for other data if needed to comply with privacy standards or applicable law.
SECURITY
We have taken commercially reasonable measures to protect your personally identifiable information from unauthorized access, deletion, or modification including using encryption and password protection systems.
You must promptly notify us if your user name or password is lost, stolen, or used without your permission. In such an event, we will cancel that user name or password.
CHILDREN
Our Site is not directed toward individuals under thirteen years old ("Children") nor do we knowingly collect information from Children. Children should not submit any information, Materials, or other content to URBIS or otherwise post anything on the Site.
LINKS
Our Site may contain links to other sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We recommend that you review the privacy policies of those sites when you visit them.
USER ABILITY TO ACCESS, UPDATE, AND CORRECT ACCOUNT INFORMATION
You may access, update, and correct your Account Information at anytime by using the "settings" and "preferences" options on your user account page.
CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may revise this Privacy Policy over time in a manner consistent with applicable law and regulations. When we revise this Privacy Policy, we will incorporate the revisions into this Privacy Policy and will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this web page. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by either e-mail or by posting a notice on the Site. If we are going to use or disclose your personally identifiable information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time we collected the information, we will notify you by e-mail and give you the opportunity to opt out of such use. Please check the Site from time to time for the most current version of our Privacy Policy.
